After working with families for nine years, I was so irritated by the lack of real information for parents about what they can do to improve their everyday relationships with their children, I decided to do something about it. Most information available is too general to be really effective, and the focus of this information is behavior; the behavior of the child and the behavior of the parents. Just do X and your child will do Y.

Well, parenting and growing up is more than what happens on the outside. Very complex connections are made internally involving emotions and thoughts that influence our behavior. To raise our children in this new century, we have to do more than change what we do with our children; we have to change how we think about our children.
